Technician – Cardiac Cath Lab

The Temecula Valley Hospital Cardiac Cath Lab Tech is responsible for table side scrub in with a Cardiologist on various Cath lab procedures, e.g., diagnostic, left or right, and PCI heart catheterizations, to include peripheral interventions. The Technician works closely with perioperative/procedural team to find and implement solutions. Selects appropriate instrumentation, catheters, and supplies consistent with Cardiologist’s preference. Ensures sterile environment is set up and organized prior to patient’s arrival into room.

Essential Job Duties

Cardiovascular Anatomy and Physiology knowledge
Attention to detail, high level of accuracy
Must know how to use all equipment in Cath Lab, to include lifesaving critical care equipment, e.g., IABP, crash cart, defibrillator
Extensive knowledge in the use of an auto injector
Competent at table side scrub in with a Cardiologist on various Cath lab procedures, e.g., diagnostic, left or right, and PCI heart catheterizations, to include peripheral interventions
Understands the use of an IVUS machine
Must be able to document cases via the hemodynamic system, e.g., G.E. Mac-Lab
Solid understanding of English, grammar, and punctuation
Ability to exercise independent judgment on a regular basis
Must have critical thinking skill set, especially in emergent situations
Effective interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate effectively and to foster teamwork among fellow staff members

Job Requirements

Minimum two years’ experience as a Cath Lab Tech in an acute care facility
Graduate from a cardiovascular technology (CVT) or Radiologic technology (RT) certified school of discipline
Active California Radiology Technologist (CRT) license along with fluoro license and active American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) license required; OR RCIS required.
BLS required ACLS required
