Work Shifts

9:00 am – 5:00 pm (Rotating)

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in the areas of food services, housekeeping and maintenance and grounds operations; performs related work.

Examples of Typical Tasks:

In the area of Food Services Operations Only:

1. Sets-up assigned station with appropriate items before meal service; checks for cleanliness before starting preparation of food.

2. Assembles prepared food on trays for patients according to menu cards or special diet lists. Delivers trays to patients and collects/returns soiled trays to the kitchen area. Participates in daily menu conferences and food service operations of cafeteria or dining room area, including organizing the serving area and collecting dishes and resetting tables.

3. Assists in cooking operations and prepares patients’ between-meal nourishment and cold foods (e.g., salads, sandwiches, desserts, etc.) according to oral and/or written instruction; reconstitutes hot foods in microwave ovens.

4. Serves foods at proper temperatures utilizing appropriate kitchen equipment.

5. Cleans kitchen and dining areas. Washes, sanitizes and/or sterilizes dishes, working areas/surfaces, utensils and equipment.

6. Collects, transports and/or disposes of garbage and trash in designated containers; runs appropriate items through a dishwasher utilizing appropriate cleaning and sanitizing agent(s).

7. Obtains stock from refrigerators and/or storerooms. Loads and unloads stock, and dispatches and stores supplies.

8. Maintains control over tools and equipment. Keeps mechanical equipment in proper running order.

9. May perform auxiliary services in health care setting laboratories, pharmacies and other special areas.

In the area of Maintenance and Ground Operations:

1. Maintains grounds, cuts lawns and shrubs and cleans walkways, including but not limited to shoveling snow, to provide for a physically safe environment for pedestrians and vehicles. Assists with the removal of debris.

2. Assists in loading, unloading and storing supplies, equipment and/or tools at point of pick-up, delivery or distribution.

Minimum Qualifications

Department Preferences

Requisite & Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of medical supplies and clinical stocking procedures.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
This is a labor-intensive position and requires the ability to:
  • Move and lift objects.
  • Demonstrate dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of standard healthcare and clinical equipment.
  • Bend, kneel, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Reach overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
  • Communicate effectively through verbal, auditory, and written means.
Roles and Responsibilities
Supports the Cath Lab Clinical and Administrative teams by performing the following duties on a daily basis:
  • Maintains turnover of all direct patient care and procedure rooms.
  • Obtains, orders, loads, unloads, dispatches, and stores supplies, equipment, and stationery items.
  • Ensures all supplies are current and replaces expired items daily.
  • Monitors clinical par levels and initiates reorders as needed.
  • Works closely with Clinical Engineering to ensure equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
  • Cleans and maintains medical equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants.
  • Assists with stock ordering, purchase requisitions, and obtaining vendor quotes.
  • Collaborates with vendors to secure supplies and equipment as required.
  • Locates and returns movable equipment that has been relocated from the department.
  • Relocates furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains all storage areas.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives and projects.
  • Attends assigned training and educational programs.
  • Completes a daily tour report outlining productivity and resolved issues.
  • Escalates unresolved concerns to leadership for assistance.
  • Completes additional duties and special projects as assigned.
