Job Description

The lead nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for the coordination of daily unit operations and ensures that the quality of care meets the nursing unit’s established standards of care and is delivered according to the standards of practice. The lead nurse provides leadership and coaching for all staff members assigned including those who float into their unit.   All other cath labs/IR nurses report to the lead nurse and are trained under the lead nurse.  Functions as the role model include clinical competence, professional presentation, and patient advocacy.  The lead nurse is responsible for the scheduling of all staff, patients, and doctors.  The lead nurse is responsible for coordinating the calling of patients. The lead nurse will handle all external nursing-related matters and coordinate training programs.

The lead nurse will, in cooperation with the lead tech, review and revise policies, documents, and protocols; update competency requirements; and prepare for future JCAHO inspections.

Associate Nursing Degree Required
BSN Preferred

BLS Required
ACLS Required
Either actively licensed as a Registered Nurse to practice in the state of Tennessee or compact state.
Conscious Sedation

3 years of cardiac cath lab experience Required
2 years of supervisory experience Preferred
