Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARYAssists the physician in managing diagnostic and interventional procedures by scrubbing and managing the sterile field and by monitoring and reporting hemodynamic data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSWhen performing Scrub Tech duties:
-
Set up sterile table with adequate supplies for the scheduled procedure.
-
Proficient at scrubbing, gowning, and maintaining the sterile field.
-
Prepping and draping appropriate site per protocol. Connect flush, contrast, pressure lines, and prepare sterile field according to physician’s preference and protocol.

Anesthetize the patients designated groin area per physician preference.
-
Conduct procedure according to the patients and physicians needs. Inform other team members of equipment or medication used or needed.
-
Secure sheaths according to appropriate protocol per patient post procedure.
-
Perform skin closure post PPM/ICD implantation per physician preference.
-
Dispose of sharps in sharps container, remove patient drapes, discard waste per protocol and ungown unless intervention was performed.
-
Assist with patient transfer and transport as needed.
-
Assist with room turnover and clean away reusable instruments for re-sterilaztion.
When performing Monitor duties:-
Perform A.M. Quality Control.

Assist with patient and equipment care in preparation of procedure.

Properly position patient on X-Ray table using safety precautions per protocol.
-
Place patient on all monitoring equipment.
-
Address the psychosocial needs of the patient.
-
Cognizant of sterile areas and assists with its maintenance.
-
Assists with prepping and draping.
-
Remains attentive, immediately reports EKG and hemodynamic changes.
-
Records hemodynamic data at various speeds and ranges as specified. Computes all hemodynamic studies as requested, generate and distribute reports to the physician.

Assists with post procedure duties.

Assists with patient transfer and transport as needed.
-
Assists with room turnover.
-
Adheres to protocol designed to reduce radiation exposures.
-
Identifies and utilizes the opportunity for professional growth and employee development.
-
Assists in the assessment of the department’s efficiency by participating in the Quality Improvement process.
-

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
-
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively.
-
Possess basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy.
-
Possess basic knowledge of hemodynamics.
-
Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications software and desktop PC’s

Know how to open, read, and respond to email
-
Know how to manage electronic files
-
Know how to print electronic documents and reports
-

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
-
Current BCLS Certification.
-
ACLS Certification is recommended.
-
EKG course completion.
-
