Shift: Shift 1

Prepares for and assists physician in all procedures done in the Cardiovascular Lab. Other duties as assigned.

Job Standard 2: 2.1 Supports the policies and procedures of FMLH and division of patient care services with a special emphasis placed on the needs of the patient undergoing invasive testing in the Cardiac Cath and Electrophysiology Labs.  2.2  Involved in updating policies for technical procedures.   3.1 Collects, documents, records and calculates pertinent patient data  3.2  Educating new staff in the monitoring function.  4.1  Assist physician with all diagnositc and interventional procedures.  4.2  Ability to function independently on all procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath lab. 5.1  Prepares and instructs patients pre and post procedures. Demonstrates great communication skills with all customers internal and external. 6.1 Performs basic radiologic functions including acquiring, processing and storing digital images, basic equipment troubleshooting and radiation safety. Able to complete Safety Event reports for advanced exposure. 7.1  Under the direct supervision of MD: Synchronous/asynchronous defibrillation; medication preparation including accurate labeling contents within syringes. 8.1  Maintains a clean and orderly patient care environment  & sterile field.  9.1: Maintains and ongoing support of inventory control in procedure rooms, core room and carts. 9.2  Accurate scanning of Space Trax for supplies. 10.1  Meets three of the following by evidence provided: 1) Assists in orientation of employees and students as requested. 2) Demonstrates ability to mentor new technologists and complete COPA documentation. 3) Serves on hospital/dept. committee 4) Ability to function in both Cardiac Cath & EP Lab performing basic procedures.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist program and two years of Cath Lab experience; in lieu of program completion, four years of field experience as an allied Health professional such as CVT, Radiology Tech, Anesthesia Tech or Paramedic is acceptable with a minimum of two years of Cath lab experience required. EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: High School diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program is required.  In lieu of program completion, two years of clinical experience is required.. EDUCATION PREFERRED: TRAINING DESCRIPTION: Knowledge of the operation of radiographic and diagnostic equipment/supplies. TRAINING PREFERRED: SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: SPECIAL SKILLS PREFERRED: LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within three months of hire.  American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within nine months of hire. LICENSURE PREFERRED: RCIS is preferred.
